About Supernova

Supernova is a practice management model originated in the 1990s that was used as a case study by Harvard Business graduate students. They determined this innovative idea was the most effective, efficient and forward thinking way of producing growth for the financial service providers. It breaks a practice down into five key areas of performance that can be measured and project future growth.

What is the Supernova Process?

The Supernova process was developed by Rob Knapp while he served as the Midwest Regional Director for Merrill Lynch. Until that time, financial advisors were signing up and managing clients using the strategy that ‘more was better’.  Two events convinced him he needed to find a better way. First, a competitor was stealing their high-net-worth clients with a promise of better service. And secondly, his region had received low marks for service from their existing clients. 

He realized that the future was not more clients but better service. He has spent the last 20 years and thousands of coaching clients to perfect the initial program that he established at Merrill. Today, the Supernova Process is a holistic approach to serving clients through segmentation, organization, planning, acquisition and leadership. 

More recently our research has shown that team dynamics and inclusion are two other areas we can provide guidance to advisors. Our motto is to “Improve the Client experience by improving the advisors experience” and “To Go where no one has gone before and joyfully share the map.”  When you step into the world of Supernova you will have found a way to differentiate yourself from your competition and experience our break away velocity.
